At the origin of the brand, a student project and a human encounter
OUR HISTORY
Although the Hindbag company was created in 2015, it was in 2012 that the story began. Originally: a student project led by Pierre Monnier, the founder of the brand.
As part of his business school studies, he collaborated with the NGO Swami Sivananda Memorial Institute (SSMI), based in Delhi, to manufacture tote bags for corporate communication needs. The objective is to allow the NGO to no longer depend on donations thanks to fixed income.
SSMI then already had its textile business where it trained women from disadvantaged neighborhoods in sewing to enable them to emancipate themselves.
Once the project was completed, Pierre suggested that the NGO continue to work together on the design of kits and tote bags for businesses, and thus founded Hindbag in 2015.
The brand, which initially only personalized textiles for businesses, then developed in 2019 a range of colorful bags and fashion accessories in organic cotton for the general public.
Today, Hindbag represents the NGO's largest source of income thanks to its goodies business for businesses and its ethical brand for the general public. By relying on the know-how of the seamstresses and the activity of Hindbag, the NGO managed to become financially independent. All profits help to work for Women Empowerment, children's education, and the fight against malnutrition, the 3 main commitments of SSMI.
